Another Halloween

On a distant fabled land
Of demons, monsters, evil things
Where werewolves howl throughout the night
And vampire bats stretch out their wings
A foul and wretched evening has befallen
For at the night of Samhain
A transformation of the ghouls
Into the most fearful creatures
Feeds a greed for crystal jewels –
Besieges peaceful homes at a dark hour.
These deformed abominations
Now possessed by Satan’s will
Have limbs and visages of children –
Those putrid, sugar-lusting evil
Miniatures of mortal men.
Perhaps an ancient curse was spoken
To make some sense of all this horror
Where placid demons turn demonic,
Becoming children at my door –
Bloodsucking vermin — I am afraid.
