Jesters in their distant heirarchy
Through folly and triumph laugh…
No more, I fear. New covenants
Outweigh the bonds of time.

This band which once was
All I had is gone. Is image
After horrid image of Ill-fated
Happiness predestined death.

Here, upon a mortal’s command
A decree is written in the sea –
This order for this bond
To hastily disband.

His purpose died a sacrifice,
His heart torn out and burned.
The clouds came back to see the corpse
Whose light had not returned.

The valleys turned grass blades for him
The winds proclaimed his loss
He bowed down to another death
For one more losing cause.

The falling leaves rustled a psalm,
A bird offered a hymn.
A few cold teardrops on the earth
Meant they remembered him.

The cold dark night shall not forget
The words he used to say
For though his body had moved on,
His memories shall stay.
